Felt Nexar FRD Dura-Ace Di2Aero as you've never feltWith the launch of Felt’s new generation of aero bikes, we introduce the name Nexar – a fusion of ‘Next’ and ‘Aero’ – symbolizing the next evolution in aerodynamic performance. Nexar represents a new era of speed, integration, and versatility, where aero no longer means compromise.
Every generation of Felt development starts from the same place: aerodynamic efficiency. It has shaped our engineering approach for decades and remains the foundation of how we design performance bikes today.
In the latest round of refinements, our engineers focused on measurable marginal gains. Small improvements in tube shaping, transitions, and system integration delivered an estimated 5 percent reduction in drag compared to the previous AR platform. While we do not rely on the absolute values produced by simulation software, we place strong confidence in the relative improvements these tools reveal.
The key point is clear. Aero is what we know and what we have spent decades mastering. Felt has applied its aerodynamic knowledge, engineering discipline, and performance driven approach to create a bike that performs at the same level as the fastest bikes used in the WorldTour. The data shows that our platform sits in the top tier of the industry, competing directly with the bikes developed and validated inside the WorldTour ecosystem. It proves the strength of our engineering mindset and our commitment to building bikes that are genuinely fast.
Aero to weightOnce we define the aerodynamic improvements we aim to achieve, our focus shifts to optimizing the aero-to-weight ratio, which directly influences the frame construction. We analyze the fatigue and stress points the bike experiences, and strategically design the carbon fiber layers and their orientation to maintain the required stiffness for an aerodynamic bike. This ensures efficient power transfer while delivering a frame that is both comfortable and secure.
The Nexar FRD features an Ultra Lightweight Precision carbon layup, resulting in a frame weighing 800 grams (depending on size).
- High-Modulus Fiber Strategy: We use a higher ratio of ultra-high-performance fibers like T800, T1000, and T1100 in non-critical zones. This reduces weight while maintaining structural integrity.
- Optimized Ply Architecture: Each frame is hand-laid with meticulous ply orientation. We minimize redundant overlaps and use thinner, low-resin-content plies, maximizing stiffness-to-weight efficiency.
- Selective Use of 30T–40T Carbon: In high-stress zones – like the head tube, bottom bracket, and front triangle – we deploy 30T–40T high tensile modulus fibers. These allow us to reduce material thickness while boosting stiffness and responsiveness.
- Headtube Section Enhancements: We’ve increased the headset bearing size and integrated internal cable routing through the headset, improving both aerodynamics and front-end stiffness.
- Bottom Bracket Reinforcement: The bottom bracket area has been reinforced to enhance power transmission, ensuring more efficient energy transfer from rider to road.
- Rear Triangle Design: The rear triangle has been specifically engineered to absorb road vibrations. Its geometry and carbon layup help reduce fatigue and improve comfort, especially on longer rides or rough terrain.
- Seat Stay Design: The lowered seat stays contribute to improved vertical compliance, enhancing comfort without compromising performance.
- Tire Clearance Consideration: The frame accommodates tires up to 32mm, making it suitable for rougher surfaces such as pavé or cobblestones.
Our lightest ever integrated cockpit under 300 gramsThis beautifully reimagined cockpit combines cuttingedge aerodynamic improvements, reduced weight, and enhanced functionality. With fully integrated internal cable routing and a sleek, minimalist aesthetic, it’s not just a performance upgrade – it’s a design statement. Every detail has been refined to deliver both form and function at the highest level.
New geometry concept for better fittingThrough an extensive benchmarking process – analyzing countless brands, models, and frame sizes – we didn’t just follow the market. We reshaped it.
By combining deep competitor analysis with insights from professional bike fitters, we’ve created a new geometry concept that sets the direction for the future of performance cycling. The result is our AR geometry, introduced with the Nexar platform.
This is not evolution – it’s revolution. This geometry isn’t just aligned with the futureit’s defining it. Backed by expert validation and real-world testing, the Nexar sets a new benchmark for competition-oriented design.
The Felt Nexar geometry is based on these principles:
- Higher frame stack - fewer spacers, better performance: With Nexar, you don’t need to stack spacers to reach your position. The frame already puts you where modern riders want to be – cleaner, stiffer and more aerodynamic.
- More vertical seat tube angle, power through geometry: By increasing the seat tube angle by 1 degree, the Nexar positions the rider slightly more forward over the bottom bracket. The bike feels more responsive under acceleration and more stable at speed.
- Why Nexar does not need an offset seatpost: Instead of using parts to correct the position, Nexar achieves it through the frame itself. That’s a more modern and more efficient way to design a performance bike.
- Size specific crank length compatibility: Size 44-49cm, 165mm /Size 52-54cm, 167,5mm /Size 56-61cm, 170mm
- Balanced geometry across all sizes: Each frame size has been engineered to look and perform coherently. No awkward proportions, no excessive spacers on small or large bikes. To make this possible, we expanded the size range at both extremes, adding two additional sizes to better fit more riders on Nexar. This delivers a cleaner, more balanced aesthetic and a more precise fit across the board, with a broader size offering than key competitors.
